CLUTCHING AT STRAWS?
The past weeks appear to have revealed a sign of hope to some, but a sense of foreboding to others? The KNU headed by General 'Bo Mya' have made dramatic moves in talking to the SPDC, what is more dramatic however, is the SPDC gave the appearance that it was listening? Fortunately, the 'KNU' are moving with caution. Anyone, who is anyone, knows how much all the pro-democracy groups depend, and has done for many years, on the support of the Karen nation. Many say that the Karen are only looking after their own interests, but of course this is far from the truth, because without the 'KNU' much of the world support we see today, would not have occurred, certainly the 'NCUB' 'DAB' and maybe even the development of the 'NLD' would not have happened without 'KNU' support?
The down side for some, in witnessing the 'KNU's' talks with the SPDC, is to watch their own downfall because they are not seen to be included in these talks, and any successful outcome would in effect, damage the credibility and freedom to carry on their own efforts in finding a compromise which would bring about democracy, albeit slowly.
The 'NCGUB' under its present leadership, has failed miserably in its task, which come about by its self imposing righteousness of rejecting any 'non-NLD, NCGUB' members into its fold. History has told us time after time, that during times of crisis, all allied groups should rally together against a common enemy. 'Sein Win' is by contrast, a poor organiser, who lacks the will to fight from any corner other than a safe one! Were he a member of any democratic government, he would have lost his seat many years ago? Many people depended on the 'NCGUB' for guidance and hope only to be left drowning, still!
This self-imposed leader of lost sheep, has called for a conference in the US, this should be interesting, especially if as a democracy, his resignation is called for, or even more dramatic, that of and/or ASSK? Doubtful as it may be, we wonder if he realises this, even though, only 'NLD' loyalists will be invited it will still be observed very closely, comments will emerge among the community, and of course, every conference hides its spies. It will however, be interesting to observe if any non-aligned parties or their reps, are invited, either way, this conference will be seen as a last ditched attempt for the 'NCGUB' at gaining some credibility both from a world standpoint, but more importantly, from a united Burma perspective? Every point lost by the 'NCGUB' is impacted far greater into the credibility of the 'NLD', to which, its supposed to represent?
Our sources in the US reveal a growing concern among certain senior figures, although some US reps, have allowed their names to be linked to certain statements revolving around the 'NCGUB' it must not be confused with 'NCGUB' support! Those names who are used by the 'NCGUB' in order to boost its own image, are in fact supporting democracy, and support the call for the regime to stand down, they use the 'NCGUB' as a platform because it is the only standpoint available to them which is linked to Burma's 1990 election which is of course, the focal point of people's image of Burma!
It was the 'NLD' which won the elections, not, the 'NCGUB' although Sein Win loves to 'play act' as though it were? He is Prime Minister of nothing, the people never elected him to this post, at the very most, he is nothing more than a burden on the people of Burma, and the sooner it is realised the faster events will move on. More and more political activists and those who are concerned about their country are beginning to recognise this, and are asking questions, this is mainly due to the eye opening sequences of the 'Parliamentary Democracy Party' s (PDP) re-emergence into the political arena, of which many foreign observers together with the people of Burma, including the SPDC, have, reluctantly maybe, come to acknowledge, and all are conscience of its truths!
If Sein Win really is fighting for his country, and not just for himself, he must surely invite the 'PDP,' if indeed they accept, after all the 'PDP' is an integral part of Burma politics and will be for a long time to come. As we have mentioned before in other comments, to ignore the 'PDP' is to ignore Burma! The only people fearful of the 'PDP' is the SPDC, and Sein Win, with a few others in his circle. Many others are now very conscience of 'Bo Aung Din; and his uncanny versatility toward reading events before they happen. Uk.org, using its own method of approach, has gone to unusual lengths to open the window of reality to many countries who may otherwise be blind to real events in Burma politics, and has passed numerous documents containing intel, collated over many years in the hope of squashing all past illusions created by the 'NCGUB', or rather its leadership. We will go to any length in our support of establishing a solid patriotic party whose sole intention is to end the suffering of all people in Burma, instead of living well from the blood of it! We have always supported the fight against military regimes, and have in our time assisted in the downfall of some, but Burma is its own worst enemy because it allows a few individuals to slow the process down for their own well-being, while millions suffer! If Sein Win, goes ahead with his intended conference, then every person with Burmese blood should flock to attend, and confront Sein Win with a bombardment of hard hitting questions. Its everyone's right to attend just as it is for an Englishman to attend our party conferences.
The people of Burma should exercise the most powerful weapon they have, their voice! Use it to ask questions, use it to select a party who will act on your mandate and who will not abuse it!
